What is the PUN?
The Portland Utrecht Network (PUN) is a subgroup of the non-profit 501(c3) Portland Dutch Society managing the Sister/Friendship City relationship between Portland(USA) and Utrecht (Netherlands). Please also like our Facebook page.
To promote lasting bonds between the people of Portland and Utrecht by sharing experiences, running collaborative projects, and increase economic, educational and cultural connections for the greater good of each city and its people.
New events for 2018 are being planned right now!
- 100 jaar De Stijl (an art style which originated in the Netherland and has a strong connection to Utrecht. Includes artists like Mondriaan, Rietveld, ..) and is all over the Netherlands this year. We are exploring if and how we can bring this to Portland in 2018.
- What if we can organize a game between FC Utrecht and The Timbers in 2018? Wouldn't that be fun?
Key projects in 2017
While 2017 PUN will be focusing on the projects listed below we are constantly exploring new projects as well. Contact us if you have an idea for a project that we could undertake.
- PUN Maker Project - Both cities have a strong creative/entrepreneurial base and produce many products in there respective cities. The objective of they project is to help Utrecht entrepreneurs find a market here in Port land and Portland entrepreneurs sell their wares in Utrecht.
Photo exhibition - The photo exhibition is up and running until June 30. Note that fate that date the photos are still available for sale. Large prints (70 x 100cm) are $450 ($575 with frame), and small prints (50x70cm) are $300 ($375 with frame). If you buy a print not only do you get a professional photo of a similar scene of Portland and Utrecht, but your money will also support the Portland Utrecht Network (part of Portland Dutch Society) and help strengthen the sister city relationship between Portland and Utrecht.
The Beer connection - We Love Beer. Where last year several Portland brews came to showcase there beer at Portland's brewers festival, this year there are several collaborative brews happening. We hope to celebrate with the Dutch brewers the results of these collaborations sometime in July
Btw we do meet every second Wednesday of the month in City Hall, but please check the calendar because in a hectic world things do change.
